BLACK OUT!

I've always romanticized the old pioneer days or the uncomplicated days of yore, but it's a totally different reality when you have to or forced to give up the simplistic pleasures in life like taking daily shower or having a working commode. Camping always sound like such a great idea, communing with nature, roughing it,and daring and telling yourself that, "yeah, I could do it!

"Well, reality check! It's not that I mind sleeping on the ground in in a sleeping bag under the stars, nor do I mind finding insects in my meals, but never I mean never, take my showers nor commode away!

This past weekend we had to endure, you guessed it, a home with no electricity or running water. That was tough! That throws the thought of ever going camping out the window. I would, however rent a cabin with the necessary requirements. I 'm no prima donna, I just acknowledge what my inconvenience levels are. I don't need any make-up, or special contraptions to style my hair, just give me some sunblock, chapstick, and bug repellent, and I'm good to go.

I won't say that I will never go camping, but there would have to be ginormous inducement.

  1. Having been brought up with modern conveniences, I would never make a good Amish convert. I like to flush.

  2. I can relate. We lost our power too. It's hard to get much accomplished at home without any power!

  3. I've never been an outdoor person. This summer, I've decided to enjoy the outdoors (within city limits) more and not let bugs or small animals get to me. Michigan's winters are so long, so I have decided to take advantage of the hot days.
