Felt like a movie last evening, so we decided to go to our local NCG Trillium theater down the road. It seems that this time of year, people are out and about not wanting to spend time in a dark theater. I'm always up for a movie, I think I see it as a mini vacation;a time to forget the outside world and become immersed an adventure, no matter how silly it is. We like Asthon Kutcher and we're kind of ambivalent about Katherine Heigl, but went to see it anyway.
I gather you know the premise from the trailer excerpts and the plot pretty much follows that, except from a few twists and turns. It's a little reminescent of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and I think that's what the producers were trying to accomplish. The addition of Tom Selleck and Catherine O'Hara added campy elements.
Spencer(Kutcher) is hired assasin but when he encounters Jen(Heigl) and it's love at first sight,(of course) and it doesn't take long until their married. Before marrying Jen he quit the company, and the company doesn't look to kindly on employees just calling it quits. And you all know what's coming, right? He wants out, but he can only get out, if they take him OUT. La di da but hold on there's a bit of a twist...te ta! The company has embedded sleepers in his community, so when they put a price on his head, anyone of his neighbors could do the job. There are a few laughs and the addition of Tom Selleck and Catherine O'hara is a plus. It's silly humor, and I was a lot lighter coming out of the theater. If you have money and time to spend, or you just want to get out of the house, it's an okay ride.
