On the way to see Wanda Sykes Friday night at Soaring Eagle Casino, we stopped off at a restaurant we often frequent. We hadn't been to Mt. Pleasant in ages and were undecided on what route to take. The choices were between going through East Lansing or through Saginaw. We don't have any of the new fangled gadgets like a GPS or an i phone and believe that new technology is the latest status symbol, and we're proud of not being good capitalists.
As we were taking our seats, an old friend came dashing across the restaurant. "Hey guys, how have you been?" said James.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, come to find out he works for the Mt. Pleasant Sheriff's department as an officer. So we asked him the obvious question, what's the shortest way to get to Soaring Eagle? Initially we were going to take the route through East Lansing, but thanks to him we were actually pondering taking an unfamilar way. Oh, how adventurous we are! We took the leap of faith and we made the trip under 90 minutes. I had to do a bit of convincing, but it was worth it.
I presented my case in the following manner: What are the chances of us encountering an acquaitance we haven't seen in years, and was familiar with area, I mean he actually lives and works there. Slim, very slim, indeed. My hubby, hestated, but agreed.
I guess what I'm insinuating is that the universe works in mysterious ways, and sometimes you have to listen very closely or else you'll miss the message.

Wanda Sykes is always good, but I was hoping for new material, but she never disappoints. If you have HBO, it's the same Schtick she does there.

The universe does work in mysterious ways. Thanks for the post. I'm glad you enjoyed Wanda Sykes.
ReplyDeleteWanday Sykes drives me insane.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand listening to her voice.
I don't even know if she is funny because
I can't get past the inflection and tone of her voice.
Maybe I am weird.
Yes, the universe works in weird ways. Like the time we went camping and the people behind just happened to be friends from my parents early years of marriage. Instead of one site, we now had the run of three. Weird.
ReplyDeleteNo, justI think people have different tastes. When I was growing up, I had an uncle who would laugh hysterically at the "The Three
ReplyDeleteStooges", and I never GOT IT, still don't.
My taste is more along more along the lines of "I Love Lucy" and Bill Cosby, George Carlin, Joy Behar, and, well, nobody is coming to mind right now.
Shonda, that is weird.
